We were thrilled a few months ago when our friend and Simply Framed alum, MK, introduced us to the talented team behind BRANDSHOP. What is Brandshop? Brandshop is a traveling pop-up shopping concept bringing a carefully edited selection of women-led emerging brands to cities across the South. The founding duo, Hillary and Laura, started the concept to feature these brands and make them more accessible while providing a fun, upscale shopping experience.
Simply Framed had a blast participating in BRANDSHOP ATLANTA, held March 18-19 in Atlanta’s Westside Provisions District. The event featured shop-in-shops by 20 female designers and brands (including MK's Seeline Vintage & two of my new favorite obsessions, Buru & Kule) along with a day-long speaker series with a full day of panels featuring accomplished female creatives from across the country sharing their experiences across the fashion, art, entertaining and design.
We we're excited by the opportunity to introduce a new artist we absolutely love, the incredibly talented Los Angeles based photographer, Stephanie Vovas, for her Atlanta debut. Inspired by 1970s culture, Stephanie is "most inspired by locations, of the glamourous and weird kind, hotels and homes lit with California light." Her heroes include Helmut Newton, Larry Sultan, Andy Warhol, Led Zeppelin, Brigitte Bardot, & Janis Joplin. With Laura as curator, we framed a show of Stephanie's images, hung gallery wall style, with all photos custom framed to the edge and shadowboxed in our narrow white gallery frame and our chunky white gallery deep frame. Want more Stephanie? You can now shop her limited edition prints, both framed and unframed, on her recently updated (and gorgeous) site. For ideas and inspiration to create your own stunning gallery wall, visit our gallery wall guide.
In addition to debuting Stephanie's work, I was honored to participate in the From Ideation to Corporation panel, alongside the legendary Helen Ballard, Founder of Ballard Designs and Lauren Schwab, co-founder of an amazing new lingerie company, Negative Underwear. The panel was moderated by the lovely Elizabeth Ralls, Editor-in-Chief of Atlanta Homes & Lifestyles Magazine and we all shared our journey of launching and building our companies. Here's a picture of me looking super official holding a microphone.
We couldn't get enough of this amazing event, and chances are you're wanting more too. Check out some of the great brands we discovered below and be sure to follow Brandshop on Facebook and Instagram for updates and more information on when and where the next one will be held (hint: New Orleans!).
