In Frame: Chelsea & Tec Petaja

For Simply Framed's special Valentine's Day edition of In Frame, we thought it fitting to ask our clients Chelsea & Tec Petaja—one of Nashville's most hip and with-it creative couples—what work in their home (a charming turn-of-the-twentieth-century Victorian) is most special to them.

Chelsea & Tec Petaja for Simply Framed.

Who: Chelsea Petaja, the designer behind Oh My Deer, a paper goods and hand lettering studio with a cult following; Tec Petaja, one of the top wedding photographers in the country, whose work has been featured in Martha Stewart, Once Wed, and Kinfolk magazines, just to name a few.

What: A hand-lettered piece by Chelsea, written in india ink on watercolor paper, that hangs in the couple’s shared studio. It says, "I promise to love you as an act of my will for the rest of my life."

From Chelsea: I gave this to Tec as a Christmas present a few years ago. These words are a portion of our wedding vows that we find particularly sweet as we head into our seventh year of marriage. It so simply pinpoints that our love for one another is a choice we have to make every day. Life isn't lived in the honeymoon phase and I don't want it lived as if it's taken for granted or commonplace. These words remind us that our everyday choices--our words and actions and decisions--are what propel us into a lifetime of love.
