The Dog Days of summer might be over, but the Dog DAY of summer is today! On National Dog Day, we’re looking back at one of our favorite pooch-inspired projects.

Who: Matt Hagel is the Chief Puppy Accountant at Bark Box, the premier dog goody subscription service for spoiling your four-legged friend at least once a month. More importantly, he is the proud father of instafamous labradoodle @montydoodledoo.

What: Matt recently commissioned master pet portrait artist Morgane Chang to paint his beloved pup, dressed as WWE World Heavyweight Champion Macho Man Randy Savage, playing off Monty's affectionate nickname, "Monty Man Randy Savage." He chose our White Gallery Frame so the piece really popped against white walls.

From Matt: "Not only is Morgane a great artist, but she has a unique perspective on dogs from her time working at Bark & Co. We knew she would embrace the task of humanizing Monty as Macho Man and do it in a fun and loving way. Monty is the champion of our house. We love him with all our hearts. This portrait really embraces how we like to have fun with our dog, and the fact that he is a true champion. He can also be a savage at times, eating food off the counter or ripping cardboard boxes. But just like Macho Man, we still love him."

A special doggy deserves a special portrait. Get in touch with Morgane—pictured hard at work in her studio—to commission a man’s-best-friend masterpiece of your own!

To Monty and all the amazing dogs out there, Happy National Dog Day! We hope you're celebrating with lots of bones, belly rubs, tennis balls, sticks, walks, cuddles, and even dog cake!
