In Frame: Liana Hornyak

When it comes to moments in life that deserve to be captured and custom framed, few come close to your wedding day. When Liana (who helps manage social media here at Simply Framed) received the photos from her fall wedding late last year, she knew that she needed to get at least one (along with the save-the-date that she made herself) onto her wall, stat. Naturally, that’s where we came in.

Who: Liana Hornyak, co founder of saturday social (and her new husband, Jason.)

What: A photo from Liana and Jason’s October 2018 Colorado wedding (shot by the super talented Jaicee Morgan) and a save-the-date from the wedding, featuring Liana’s original drawing.

From Liana: “Our wedding incorporated a lot of DIY elements, the first being our save-the-dates. I drew a little doodle of Jason, our dog, Ruby, and me (in ink and colored pencil) and had it scanned and printed onto a template I found online. I don’t have much time to dedicate to drawing or painting anymore, so most people who’ve met me post-college had no idea that I’d made the design myself—but my family and childhood friends identified my handiwork immediately, which was fun.

Selecting a wedding photo to print and frame alongside it proved trickier, because our photographer, Jaicee, took so many incredible ones. I ultimately chose one captured right after the ceremony, because we’re wearing our lei. (We conducted a traditional Hawaiian lei exchange as part of our vows, to honor my heritage.) I love the look on Jason’s face, and the fact that you can see my shoes—and, if you look closely, you’ll also see our wine glasses waiting for us in the corner (a detail that we both find hilarious.)

Simply Framed printed the photo, and framed both pieces in their Metal Gallery Frame in Matte Black. The wedding photo has a classic single mat, and the save-the-date is in an Island Mat to give the tiny piece some extra oomph. I specifically chose the Metal Gallery Frame because I love its clean, minimalist look, and I think it complements the fun, casual nature of the photo (as well as the narrow, odd-shaped wall in our entryway where we chose to hang the pieces.) In general, my decorating style is modern and laidback and a little boho, and these new custom framed prints fit into our home perfectly. As always, Simply Framed did an excellent job. I will cherish these souvenirs from the best day ever, forever.
