The Watcher
by Blue Myers
Great blue herons are a fixture across the Pacific Northwest, from wild saltwater marshes and coastal wetlands to the heart of our cities. They navigate both worlds with equal mastery: hunting salmon and steelhead in pristine rivers, then settling into urban pond margins, detention basins, and waterfront parks where they've become unexpected neighbors. The composition captures the heron's characteristic poise. The golden light and distant cityscape speak to the duality of this species: equally at home in pristine wilderness and in the spaces of urban ecology. The water below suggests the wetlands and waterways that sustain both the heron and the human communities it inhabits. A meditation on presence, adaptation, and the resilience of nature at the edge of civilization. Limited edition of 500.
