Hidden Networks
by Blue Myers
Hidden Networks reveals the unseen architecture beneath the natural world. Created using the historic cyanotype process, a delicate network of roots was placed directly onto light-sensitive paper and exposed to ultraviolet light, allowing sunlight to preserve every intricate filament in the distinctive Prussian blue of one of photography's earliest printing techniques. Though often overlooked, roots are the foundation of every thriving landscape. They anchor plants, draw water and nutrients from the soil, and form living partnerships with fungi and microorganisms that connect entire forests through vast underground networks. Their branching forms echo rivers, lightning, and neurons, reminding us that nature repeats its patterns across every scale. Hidden Networks invites viewers to look beneath the surface and consider the invisible systems that support life. What appears to be a single plant is, in reality, part of a much larger web of relationships.
