Cherry Drift
by Blue Myers
Cherry blossoms scatter across a deep Prussian blue field — some fully resolved, some dissolving into light at the edges. The cyanotype process gives the composition its cool, underwater stillness; watercolor brings the petals back to pink and coral. At center, a tangle of stems anchors the piece; at the edges, petals are still in motion. This piece combines cyanotype with watercolor and digital finishing. The blue ground and shadow forms were made by exposing cherry blossoms directly onto sensitized paper; the warm tones were painted over the cyanotype, and digital work unified the layers. Limited edition of 500.
