Rain Song

Rain Song celebrates the arrival of water and the awakening it brings to the living world. Golden Yellow Flag irises (Iris pseudacorus) rise from a landscape of cool blues, their elegant forms emerging from a rain-soaked wetland alive with ripples, reflections, and possibility. At the water's edge, a Pacific Tree Frog (Pseudacris regilla) pauses among the leaves, a familiar voice of spring throughout the Pacific Northwest. Concentric rings spread across the water where raindrops touch the surface. Echoing the spiraling patterns of a Zen garden, these ripples transform the pond into a place of contemplation and stillness. The circles suggest both movement and calm—water responding to rain while settling into a larger harmony. Throughout the composition, the interplay of gold and indigo evokes the meeting of earth, water, and light. Inspired by wetland ecosystems, Rain Song reflects the intricate relationships that emerge wherever water gathers.
