South by Southwest, or as it's so widely referred to, SXSW is one of the premiere creative entertainment festivals held each year in Austin, Texas. The festival runs the gamut from film and music to interactive media and a delightful gig poster show called Flat Stock.
In the spirit of creativity, it's only fitting that one of Austin's chicest boutique hotels (recently featured in Domino magazine online and named after the patron saint of music and poetry), the Hotel Saint Cecilia sells a super popular poster we've had the pleasure of custom framing for countless customers.
So what is it that makes this print so popular? According to the hotel's site, the untitled, 20"x29" limited edition hand silkscreened poster by Austin-based artist Noel Waggener, was inspired by a visit to the Hotel Saint Cecilia that he describes as "a pleasantly hallucinatory place where one could go to lose themselves and dream." Each poster is signed and numbered. Noel is a self-taught graphic artist based in Austin and was nominated for a Grammy Award in 2006 for his design of the boxed set Albert Ayler: Holy Ghost.
SXSW, Hotel Saint Cecilia and Noel Waggener is a triplet of synchronicity and below is a behind the scenes image of the print born from creativity and imagination custom framed in our natural wood gallery frame moments before being packed and shipped to its owner.
