Our partners do pretty amazing things, and NBD or anything but Kristi Kohut of Hapi Art was named one of "7 Next Big-Thing Artists" by Elle Decor Magazine in 2014 and things have been trending upwards since. From original works to fine art prints, pillow cases and fabrics by the yard, not only are Kristi's works bright, bold and well, "hapi", but she's charitable to boot.
Hapi Art Prints custom framed with a mat in our white gallery frame
The "Chromatic Harmony" pop-up show held at the Shanti Grace Gallery sold limited-edition Hapi Art prints custom framed by us, and with 100% of the profits supporting Feed Projects. FEED was founded in 2007 by Lauren Bush Lauren with the simple idea of creating products that would engage people in the fight against hunger in a tangible way. The event was photographed by Randi Heimert.
Kristi states:
"Like the harmonic rhythm of notes in a song, in this series, I use color to elicit a feeling. Different combinations resulting in different vibrations, aiming to transcend the viewer out from the ordinary. Created with acrylic, ink and pastels on Mulberry Paper.
For me, it is an intuitive dance of play, working until I find just the right combination of color and texture. I know it’s done when it elicits a feeling inside, a zing, a ping of joy or pleasure that often only comes with that final pop of color.
I love color and the effect created when unexpected colors are combined. You’ll find everything from the finest oil pigment stick to fine art markers in my work. I love mixing materials. The glossiness of an acrylic paint next to the chalky-texture of a pastel. There can be a thousand different shades and finishes of hot pink and I often experiment to find just the right one that will add a burst of feeling to the piece."
