Throughout history, the female form has been celebrated, romanticised, and infinitely reproduced to reflect ideals surrounding beauty and womanhood. Museums around the world are filled with motherly figures and soft, feminine portraiture. But when you look more closely, you see that so few of these images are actually created by female artists.
Thankfully, this narrative is changing. And we’re so happy to be a part of it.
Today, female creators from all over the world are contributing to the conversation about what it means to be a woman. And what we're seeing is that there is no one universal image of womanhood.
For Women’s History Month, we’re sharing 11 ready-to-frame art prints and originals, all by women and featuring women.

2. Carly Martin, Women’s March
Carly Martin paints a picture of a powerful, hopeful future—women from all walks of life marching together for change. In support of the goals of the Women’s March, Clementine Studio will be donating 20% of all proceeds from this print—shown in our Metal Gallery Frame in Matte Black with a single mat—to Planned Parenthood.
Debra Cartwright’s intimate, everyday portraits challenge mainstream representations of black femininity. With light airy spaces and soft brushstrokes, her “Boudoir” series captures the strength in softness and vulnerability. “New York” is shown here in our Light Walnut Gallery frame.
Kenesha Sneed of Tactile Matter is a multi-disciplinary artist and Creative Director whose work speaks to empowerment and the Black female experience. Fay Ku is a Taiwan-born, New York-based artist putting a contemporary spin on classic fairy tales and folklore. Her fantastical illustrations pull from past and present, blending Asian and American aesthetics to create a visual identity that is uniquely her own. This original illustration is shown in our White Gallery frame.
Leah Reena Goren is an artist known for her brightly-colored illustrations and bold, playful patterns. You may recognize her signature style from her popular collaborations with brands like Anthropologie, Kate Spade, and Away luggage. 7. Stephanie Vovas, Crystal Cove III
With super saturated hues and a carefree attitude, photographer Stephanie Vovas is bringing back 70s glam. This beachy print has us dreaming about the West Coast. We love a clean, simple frame like our White Gallery for a bright print like this.
In the wake of the 2016 presidential election, Jamie Street wanted to put forth an image of unity in a time of uncertainty. This image of women coming together to create a human peace sign illustrates the political power we have in numbers. 9. Cathy Charles, Hair Wrap Print
