If a picture’s worth a thousand words, Kathryn and Perry are master storytellers. The husband and wife photography team behind Our Love is Loud beautifully capture the most important moments to visually tell epic love stories that make us swoon—but they don’t just do weddings.
Kathryn Bacalis is an equally talented interior photographer whose work can be seen on Apartment Therapy and (multiple times) here on simplyframed.com. We’re such big fans, that we jumped at the chance to custom frame a lithograph the couple found on a trip to Greece because we couldn’t wait to see how Kathryn would style and shoot it. (Spoiler alert: We’re not disappointed.)

From Kathryn: “On one of our days in Athens, we went on a hunt for some artwork to take home. We wanted something to commemorate the trip, and the phase of life we were in—so we woke up early on a Sunday to hit the Monastiraki Flea Market, determined to find stalls filled with the hidden vintage gems we’d read about.
“The market was recommended by our Airbnb host in Rome, whose interior style I admired. Our apartment there was filled with art by Alekos Fassianos, a great contemporary Greek painter, so I asked our host where in Athens I might find some vintage art. He pointed us in the right direction.

“I have a rule when buying anything, from art to furniture to clothing: I have to feel something when I see it. It has to move me in some way. Any time I’ve purchased something just because it was on trend or on sale, I’ve grown tired of it after a few months (even a few weeks!) But my inner eye—that gut instinct—has never led me astray. And that morning in Greece, it led me to this signed print by Yannis Gaïtis. I saw it from across a courtyard and knew I had to have it.
“Shortly after returning from Greece, we moved from a rented bungalow into a home of our own. The new house is larger, with a few extra walls for art—and this was further motivation to find a statement piece to bring home. Needless to say, I didn’t know exactly where the piece would live when we bought it—but it’s currently in our dining room, where I think it works perfectly custom framed full bleed in a classic and timeless Black Gallery Frame from Simply Framed.”
