Black Label grew out of our founder Dara’s realization that the solution we’ve created at Simply Framed for professional artists and all of our customers could be applied to fine art framing. “Multi-thousand dollar artwork deserves a top-of-the-line frame that can stand up to that value,” says Dara. “I realized there had to be a way we could apply our seamless online process to fine art framing.”

Created with professional artists, publishers, museums, and private collections in mind, Simply Framed Black Label offers a thoughtful selection of handmade hardwood frames in timeless finishes and archival mounting styles. Available in custom sizes from 5x7” to 48x72”, we build the width of your frame according to the size of your artwork and infuse each element with careful craftsmanship—so you don’t need to worry about a thing.

Black Label frames are available in 4 different hardwoods: Ash, Maple, Walnut, and Cherry. We offer sixteen different finishes for your frame, ranging from light Whitewash and Pale Grey to deep Graphite and Ebony. If none of those work, you can also select a custom lacquered finish in virtually any color that Benjamin Moore offers.

Splines are carefully crafted to either complement your frame or seamlessly match it, depending on your preference.

Every Black Label frame is cut, joined, stained, and finished by hand to deliver the highest quality and impressive detail, including spline joints, available in complementary wood or hidden by a uniform lacquered finish on your frame. Black Label frames are recommended to ship with 99% UV-filtering acrylic, with available upgrades to Tru Vue Optium acrylic. The result: next-level online custom frames that can hold their own on any museum wall.

What’s more, if you’re short on time or would rather handle the framing, you can opt to place a Frame Only order for Simply Framed Black Label and receive everything you need to mount, frame, and hang your piece yourself.
