From Nandita:
Last year, I spent a week in Los Angeles for work shooting in all of these really beautiful mid-century modern homes and I was really inspired by how muted and considered many of the interiors I visited were. I popped into a home design store in Silver Lake before dinner one night and fell in love with the long, slender dimensions and washed out palette of Chris Turnham's print of Frank Lloyd Wright's Ennis House (I'm a bit of a design nerd and I've always admired Wright's work). The house was built in 1923 for the Ennis family in Los Feliz, and I remember reading that it was one of Wright's favorite commissions—and one of only four houses he built in LA.
My New York apartment has little touches of California throughout. A friend just gave me a trio of succulents for my birthday, and I have a small collection of LA-centric photography including work by Gia Coppola and Poppy de Villeneuve. I also managed to track down a Chateau Marmont candle at Clare Vivier's shop in Silver Lake (who knew they made one--and that it actually smells delicious?!)
I think of this print as part of my ode to the west coast— a tiny reminder where I grew up and a place I hope to call home again one day.
