Wood Frame Kit Instructions
How To Place Your Art Into Your Wood Frame Kit
What's included:
Step 1: Prep Your Workspace
- Choose a clean, dust-free surface with room to lay out the frame, artwork, and mat.
- Unpack your Frame Kit and lay the frame face down. Make sure to hold onto your Hanging Hardware Pouch and Hanging & Care Instructions.
Steps 2: Open the frame to insert your art
- Use your fingers or your screwdriver to bend all the flex points upwards and carefully remove the backing board and mat board.
Step 3: Insert your artwork!
- No Mat:
- Line up art on the backing board.
- Please Note: Never tape on the front of the artwork.
- If you’d like to tape your piece in place (recommended for pieces above 16x20), turn the work face down and gently apply two vertical strips of tape to the top side of the back of the artwork, with an extra half-inch of tape at the top.
- Fold the extra half-inch of tape so the sticky side is now on the back of the print facing out and adhere to the backing board by aligning and pressing in place.
- With a Mat:
- Line up art on the backing board with the provided mat as you’d like it to be displayed.
- Please Note: Never tape on the front of the artwork.
- To create a T-hinge, turn the work face down and gently apply two vertical strips of tape to the top side of the back of the artwork, with an extra half-inch of tape at the top.
- Turn the artwork over into an aligned position, with the sticky side of excess tape now facing up.
- Apply two horizontal pieces of tape on the backing board above the top side of the artwork to cover the vertical tabs, making a T-shape.
- Place the mat on the artwork so it is positioned correctly. Stack the mat, artwork and backing board.
- Floated:
- Please Note: Never tape on the front of the artwork.
- Apply two vertical strips of tape to the top side of the artwork with an extra half-inch of tape at the top.
- Fold the tape down toward the front of the board so the tape is now a v shape with the sticky side of the half-inch tape facing up.
- Center the artwork on the mat board and once it's in the correct position press the top part of the art gently to adhere the back of the art to the tape
Step 4: Put the Frame Back Together
-
With flex points still bent upwards, place your artwork, the mat, and the backing board back inside the frame.
-
Bend down flexpoints and secure your artwork inside the frame
Step 5: Add the Hardware
- Using a pencil, mark 6 inches down from the top of the frame on both sides of the back of the frame.
- Screw hardware into the D-ring on each side, with the D-rings facing inward. If you have a hard time screwing into the frame, you can also pre-drill a hole with a 1/16 bit and then screw into the frame.
- Loop wire through D-rings and wrap the excess around itself tightly.
